Gdy empatia spotyka innowacje – technologia z misją społeczną

The first edition of classes on wearables conducted for second-year students of Business Process Automation (BPA) ended on 10 June 2025. This year's edition of the course was carried out in cooperation with the SeniorApp Foundation, which supports activities aimed at improving the quality of life of the elderly.

Students, under the supervision of Dr Dominika Kaczorowska-Spychalska, Associate Professor at the University of Lodz and Dr Emilian Gwiaździński, worked on innovative projects of this type of devices dedicated to senior citizens.

The design process was preceded by a thorough analysis of the challenges faced by elderly people, from difficulties and movement limitations, cognitive problems, through safety issues, to the need for contact and social bonds. The classes were project-based and transdisciplinary in nature. Students combined knowledge from areas such as digital technologies, management, marketing, design thinking and finance. They demonstrated not only a creative and analytical approach to the problem, but also the ability to understand the real expectations of potential users.

The jury evaluating the projects included Przemysław Mroczek, President of the SeniorApp Foundation, and Kacper Ragan, Head of the Controlling Department. Cooperation with the SeniorApp Foundation enabled not only pro-social activities and confrontation of ideas with real scenarios but also showed how closely the world of science connects with market practice.

We would like to thank the SeniorApp Foundation and offer our congratulations to the awarded teams!
