SSIGIL runs under the banner of the Trusted Internet Summer School, bringing together scholars, lawyers, policymakers, and practitioners for an intensive week of expert lectures, workshops, and hands-on simulations. Topics include digital sovereignty, critical infrastructure protection, data governance, DNS abuse, cybersecurity law, and the sustainable development of cyberspace - bridging legal theory with the real-world challenges of global internet governance.
Partners through the years
SSIGIL would not exist without the vision and generosity of the Internet Society Foundation (https://www.isocfoundation.org), whose seed funding made this programme possible. The Foundation's support for research into the global governance of Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites was the spark that launched SSIGIL in 2024 and established Lodz as an international hub for internet governance education. We are deeply grateful for their trust and investment in the next generation of internet governance professionals.
The programme is delivered in partnership with leading international institutions:
- Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE): thegfce.org
- United Nations University - Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS): cris.unu.edu
- Queen Mary University of London (QMUL): www.qmul.ac.uk/law/
- University of Surrey: www.surrey.ac.uk
- Stetson University College of Law: www.stetson.edu/law
- GigaNet - Global Internet Governance Academic Network: www.giga-net.org
The inaugural 2024 edition was supported by the Internet Society Foundation as part of a research project on satellite connectivity and disaster relief.
2026 Edition - Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme [NEW]
The third edition of SSIGIL is delivered as an Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) - an innovative format combining an online preparatory component with an intensive residential week in Lodz (20-25 July 2026). Participants are awarded 3-5 ECTS credits upon successful completion.
This year's edition is delivered in partnership with:
- Kore University of Enna (Sicily, Italy): www.unikore.it
- Vilnius University (Lithuania): www.vu.lt/en/
- Bucharest University of Economic Studies - ASE (Romania): en.ase.ro
Students from partner institutions may be eligible for Erasmus+ mobility funding through their home universities. Further information on the BIP format and funding: https://erasmus-plus.ec.europa.eu
Places are strictly limited to ensure an exclusive, high-quality learning experience. Participation is free of charge, and a limited number of fellowships covering travel and accommodation costs are available for eligible applicants.
