Over the years, times and opportunities have changed. Initially, in the difficult post-war years, opportunities were very limited. Later, the availability of equipment fluctuated, sometimes better, sometimes worse. However, all the staff of the faculty strove to ensure that their research and teaching were always of the highest standard. That is why they went to great lengths to obtain (professional) equipment for conducting research, even if it was not available on the market.
An entomological net made of gauze bandages, a home-made arena for analysing animal behaviour, but also a precise analytical balance or a typewriter are just examples of the equipment that was applied in the work of naturalists.
We encourage you to take a journey into the past. At the exhibition, we have collected devices and instruments from different periods that were (and sometimes still are) used in our work. We hope that the exhibition will bring back memories for the older visitors, and for the younger ones it will be an opportunity to learn about a part of the history of our faculty.
The exhibition will be available at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, building A, Banacha 12/16 until 25 July of the current year. Later, in August and September, it will be available to visitors at the University of Lodz Natural History Museum University of Lodz, Kilińskiego 101.
