ICANN85 in Mumbai – Invitation to Lodz End-User Community

From 7 to 12 March 2026, the Community Forum of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN85) is taking place. It is one of the most important global meetings dedicated to Internet governance. This year’s edition is held in Mumbai. As with all ICANN meetings, the event is organised in a hybrid format, allowing participants to take part both in person and remotely.

Lodz Cyber Hub invites Internet users from Łódź and the surrounding region – students, researchers, public administration representatives, technology sector professionals, entrepreneurs, and civil society organisations – to observe and take part in the global discussion about the future of the Internet.

Why follow meetings of Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers?

ICANN meetings are one of the main international forums focused on Internet governance. During the sessions, participants discuss topics such as:

  • the development of the domain name system and new generic top-level domains (gTLDs),
  • the security and stability of Internet infrastructure,
  • how global digital policies are developed,
  • the role of Internet users in the multistakeholder model of Internet governance.

Taking part – even as an observer – helps to understand how global rules for the Internet are created and how academic, technical, and civil society communities can contribute to this process.

Join remotely

The ICANN85 meeting allows participants to join online for selected sessions. After registration, participants can access community discussions, thematic sessions, and materials related to the development of global Internet policies.

For people interested in Internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital regulation, or network governance, this is a valuable opportunity to observe global decision-making processes in practice.

Programmes for students and young professionals

People who would like to become more involved in the ICANN community may consider the following programmes:

  • NextGen@ICANN – a programme for students and young professionals interested in Internet governance,
  • ICANN Fellowship Programme – a programme that supports newcomers in gaining experience and learning about Internet policy processes.

These programmes offer the opportunity to participate in ICANN meetings, develop expertise, and build an international professional network.

Lodz Cyber Hub and the ICANN community
