During the workshop, LCH was presented as a model example of effective ECSF implementation in the academic sector. Participants learned about our initiatives aimed at strengthening digital competencies among students and cybersecurity professionals.
The event gathered representatives of 17 EU-co-funded projects, national initiatives, and cybersecurity authorities. Discussions focused on challenges, best practices, and future directions for developing cybersecurity skills in Europe.
This recognition highlights the important role of LCH in shaping modern, European-standard approaches to cybersecurity education and workforce development.
The European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF) serves as the European Union’s reference model for defining, mapping, and assessing the skills, competences, knowledge areas, and tasks associated with cybersecurity professional roles. It consolidates cybersecurity work functions into 12 representative role profiles, each with clearly identified missions, responsibilities, and required competences. By offering a harmonised terminology and a shared competency structure, the ECSF enables organisations to plan their workforce, supports educational institutions in designing targeted learning programmes, and assists policymakers in identifying and addressing skills gaps. As a foundational element of the EU’s Cybersecurity Skills Academy, the ECSF contributes to strengthening Europe’s cyber resilience and developing a highly competent cybersecurity workforce.
